Bespoke leather re-covering and restoration for exceptional chairs and distinctive furniture.

For decades, Pegasus® has worked with fine leather where fit, strength, finish and craftsmanship matter. We are now accepting selected furniture commissions for clients who want to preserve and elevate a worthy piece rather than replace it.

Our specialty includes director’s chairs, campaign chairs, safari chairs, sling chairs, stools, benches and related furniture whose design depends on carefully fitted leather components.

A Bespoke Service — Not Ordinary Upholstery

Each piece is evaluated individually. The existing chair, frame and construction are studied before new leather is selected, cut, fitted and finished for that particular piece. Depending on the commission, we may replace leather seats, backs, slings, panels or other fitted leather components while preserving the character of the original furniture.

Leather Selection

Clients may choose from premium leathers in a range of colors, textures and finishes. Where appropriate, we can discuss special hides, custom color direction and leather selected to complement an interior, an existing collection, or the age and character of the furniture.

For Furniture Worth Preserving

This service is intended for clients who value the original piece, its design, provenance, sentimental importance or place within a carefully considered interior. It is not positioned as inexpensive furniture repair.

Typical commissions begin in the $800–$900 range and may extend to several thousand dollars per chair, depending on the leather selected, construction of the piece and the work required.

Request an Initial Evaluation

Send several clear photographs of the piece, including the full chair, seat, back, underside or attachment points, and any areas requiring attention. Include approximate dimensions and, if known, the maker or designer.

We will review the photographs and let you know whether the piece is appropriate for a Pegasus® commission and what additional information may be needed before quoting the work.
